  • Chapter One
It was quiet in the skies of Xydranna. Peacefully the Drynas spread their wings and soared through the sky watching lazily for prey. Their two sharp eyes on either side of their head were anything but useful, their true sight came from the diamond jewel between their eyes. The jewel, if properly exercised would tap into the center of Xydranna and give them paranormal sight. This is what allowed the young Dryna, Lilith, to be lazy in her search for prey.

Lilith searched contemptuously with her weak eye sight which hardly reached the ground, knowing when she was hungry that she would stretch out her psychic ability for miles, that would sense the slightest movement.

Lilith didn't need to tap into her ability to feel another Dryna coming. Or was it not a Dryna? She felt the cold, darkness of an evil presence long before she saw ahead of her, the dark counterpart of the peaceful Drynas; the Xrykiens. Unlike most Dryna who had fully feathered wings, hairy tail ends, and a rounded beak, the Xrykiens had long sharp teeth, a dreadfully sharp beak, featherless, bat-like wings, and a clubbed tail. There were often other adaptations, but none applied to Lilith and the approaching Xrykien.

Lilith did not think of the forthcoming Xrykien as a threat, but more of an inconvenience. If there was any prey here, or any prey on it's way here, the Xrykien has already gotten it, Lilith thought.

Xrykiens and Drynas rarely fought, but all Drynas are taught escaping methods, and to be weary of the Xrykiens, who will not feel too bad about hunting Dryna when slower prey runs low. However Lilith was surprised when the Xrykien flew right up to her, face to face and touched his beak gently to hers. This was the Dryna's signal for peace. Lilith was surprised the Xrykien even knew about it.

"I am Eli. I am in search of a bride. I am heir to the newly vacant Xrykien throne."

Lilith heard his words within her head, a connection formed through the diamonds upon their heads which allowed a telepathic communication. She did not know anything of Xrykien government, so she was surprised to hear such news.

"I am Lilith, of the Nakito region just south of here. I was going to hunt, but I've found that I'm not as hungry as I thought I was."

Neither Drynas not Xrykien can make a facial expression, but Lilith felt a feeling of happiness emit from Eli.

"I have been watching you," Eli said, "I've searched all over the Xrykien kingdom, but I have found no woman to love. But you..."

"Me?" Lilith exclaimed, "I'm only 28 turns of age." None the less, Lilith was flustered and found herself studying Eli's wings and crystal. He's got a long wingspan, and a beautiful violet diamond jewel. We would have strong offspring, and a beautiful valley with a mermaid lake.

"All the better. I am only 34 turns of age myself. I'm still growing, my father said... Before he died. Don't you worry your pretty self about that though, what do you say?"

    "Okay..."

Some six miles east of them, a shudderingly loud sound rang over the valleys and through the skies like thunder. A rip in dimension floating in the Xrykien and Dryna's standoff region, where mermaids tended to dwell. Countless mermaid fled their water pyramids for the ocean, afraid of the black hole in the sky. The Dryna time keeper, and the Xrykien keeper swirled the sky, anxious and ready.

Two Shinobi elders had broken through in their meditation. The entire small village of people from Earth was sucked into the void, as well as the two Shinobi. The clouds of bubbles popped, and the sky cleared with the entering of Earthlings.

Drynas and Xrykiens were drawn to the energy release for miles and miles surrounding. The simple people of a village that lived off the land all stared up into the sky at what appeared to be Pterodactyls to them.

Mianufs, the Drynas' and Xrykiens' largest prey were also drawn to the void. The Mianufs, at first glance appear to be elephants, but with closer inspection, you see that they are much bigger, lack tusks, and have curious fur that grows upward from their neck and over the back of their head and into their face.

Lilith, feeling exuberant, headed back to Nakito, where her family owned a decent piece of land, deep within the city. The city consisted of structures Aldrinas could only create.

Telepathically, the Aldrinas conjured crystals from the ground, and using what human's might call alchemy, almost as though they were speaking to the crystals, making them grow, and grow, until they formed vast pillars so high, that vapor sacks (called atmos) would swirl around them.

Lilith passed by many fancy crystal palaces, including the one that her soon to be husband lived in. All Drynas, from birth are promised to another Dryna, often however if both of the matched Drynas did not want to be together, they could be rematched. Lilith forced herself to not look at the beautiful palace, afraid she might see Drake, her match. Emerging from the mansions of Nakito, she passed onto the mountains with scattered crystals, and flying a familiar path reached her own perch. Lilith allowed herself to think now, resting peacefully. Drake isn't that interested, is he? He's so plain, and so boring. And while Drake is related to the King, he's not a prince. Then again, I have no way of knowing if Eli was truthful to me.

Lilith's thoughts were interrupted by the arrival of her mother swooping down onto her perch, directly in front of Lilith's perch. They touched beaks in greeting.
